Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that SpaceX’s Starlink will provide free internet access to Venezuela until February 3, following the U.S. military operation that ousted President Nicolás Maduro.

The announcement comes as parts of Caracas experience a sudden loss of internet, reportedly linked to power cuts during the military action. “We will continue to provide connectivity to Venezuela,” SpaceX stated in a post on X.

This decision marks Starlink’s ongoing support for Venezuela during a period of political and social upheaval. The country has faced frequent disruptions to its communication infrastructure due to both government controls and external conflicts.

The move follows previous actions by Musk’s SpaceX, which offered similar services in Ukraine after the Russian invasion in 2022. Reactions to the announcement have been mixed, with some praising the initiative as a lifeline, while others question the political implications of such corporate involvement in sensitive regions.
